INTERNATIONAL AND COMPARATIVE POLITICS

International and comparative politics at Narxoz is a unique program that aims to create a new generation of specialists in Eurasia. In addition to acquiring basic theoretical competencies in the main branches of international relations and political science (theory/philosophy, IR, Comparative Politics), every student will learn an additional Eurasian language (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or Turkish) in addition to English, Russian and Kazakh. All students will be expected to study abroad in the second semester of their junior year to acquire specialist knowledge of their chosen country.

The program will be rounded out with courses in economics and international law to ensure that graduates have a broad perspective. The linguistic and cultural/historical knowledge that our students acquire will make them uniquely qualified for work in the private or government sector or to continue on to graduate programs in Political Science or International Affairs.

SEMESTER ABROAD

During their semester abroad students of International and Comparative Politics program will immerse themselves into the study of a country of their interest. Spending one semester at a partner university will help our students to deepen their knowledge about the host country’s history, culture, economy, and politics. It will also create an environment, in which our students can definitely improve their language possession and return to Kazakhstan as a fluent speakers of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Turkish. Courses at the foreign partner university will cover the modern history and political economy, as well as cultural and social aspects of the countries that our students have chosen as their area of studies. It is our strong believe that a time spent abroad will benefit our young leaders in the most efficient way and help them to unleash the best of their potential.

AFTER GRADUATION YOU CAN WORK IN:

  • MFA of RK and diplomatic missions of RK
  • Public authorities and organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan working in the sphere of foreign policy relations, world politics
  • International organizations (UN, UNESCO, OSCE, CIS and etc.)
  • Scientific and educational organizations of Kazakhstan
  • Non-state structures (large and medium business, political parties and public movements; consulting, analytical, research, educational centers, media, international and Kazakh NGOs , etc.
